Joe Johnson Undergoes Elbow Surgery, Out 4-6 Weeks

Atlanta Hawks All Star Joe Johnson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks, putting his return around mid-January.

The Breakdown
This is a major hit to many fantasy teams who drafted Johnson in the early rounds, but the elbow discomfort may explain his slow start to the season. Hopefully when Joe returns he'll play closer to the All Star level we expect from him.

While Johnson is out, Maurice Evans is expected to replace him in the starting line up. Evans may be of some value in deeper formats and he's available in virtually every league. Though Evans will start, sixth man Jamal Crawford is the one whose value will rise significantly in Johnson's absence. Crawford should see a nice uptick in minutes and, as a result, see his production increase across the board.
