Jonas Jerebko Tears Achilles, Will Miss Most of the Season

In Detroit's first preseason game, forward Jonas Jerebko has partially torn his Achilles. He's expected to spend the next 5-6 months recovering, putting his return to the court around March.

The Breakdown
This is an unfortunate injury for a player who was one of the biggest surprises in the league last season. The injury opens up a spot in the starting line up that Charlie Villanueva will likely fill. Regardless of who starts, players such as Villanueva, rookie Greg Monroe, and Jason Maxiell should all expect to player bigger minutes for the bulk of the season.
