Beaubois to Have Surgery, Could Miss Start of Regular Season

Rodrigue Beaubois' broken foot will require a pin to be surgically inserted, causing him to miss 2-3 months. The surgery is scheduled for Friday August, 13th.

The Breakdown
The fact that this injury is serious enough to require surgery is unfortunate. As we covered previously, Beaubois needed to be healthy during training camp to compete for the starting shooting guard spot. Now, the earliest we can expect him back is mid-October, which is just a couple of weeks before the start of the regular season. He could potentially return as late as mid-November, which would cause him to miss the first 5-10 games of the season. If he's out the full 3 months, he may be ineffective when he does come back since he won't be in game shape. This is a huge blow because Beaubois' potential this year hinges on him becoming a regular rotation player, if not a starter. At this point, we don't even know if he'll be in the rotation on such a deep Mavericks team.

Beaubois is still a good sleeper pick, but his value drops a bit after this news. I still consider him a solid pick in deeper leagues, but you'll have to monitor any news on his recovery as your draft approaches. If he suffers any setbacks, his value will continue to drop. The longer it takes him to get back on the court, the harder it will be for him to cement his place in the rotation.
