Matt Barnes Tears Lateral Meniscus, Expected to Miss 8 Weeks

Los Angeles Lakers reserve Matt Barnes tore the lateral meniscus in his right knee Friday. The injury will require surgery, which will sideline Barnes for about eight weeks. He should return to action in early March.

The Breakdown
Although Barnes wasn't owned by many teams, he was still a great fantasy player for his all-around production. While averaging just 20.8 minutes for game, he was able to maintain a steady presence in our player ratings. Expect Lamar Odom, Shannon Brown, and Ron Artest to see increased minutes in Matt's absence. Those in deeper leagues may want to keep an eye on Luke Walton. He should move into the rotation while Barnes is out, though we don't expect much from him.
