Jannero Pargo has agreed to a 2-year, $2.4 million contract with Golden State.
The Breakdown
Pargo will step in and fill the role previously held by C.J. Watson as the primary back up to PG Stephen Curry. Pargo should be the first guard off the bench and could be a decent source of points and assists in a deep league format. Watson was able to put up some good games the last couple of years when the Warriors employed 3 guard line ups. Though that was mainly due to injury, there's a chance that Pargo does get around 20 minutes a game due to the lack of depth behind Curry and Monte Ellis in Golden State. There is still upstart Jeremy Lin to contend with in the back court, but I don't think Lin will get more playing time than a veteran like Pargo unless Lin continues to improve and impress throughout the offseason and training camp. Whoever ends up being the first guard off the bench between Pargo and Lin is certainly worth a pick late in a deep draft. This is a situation to monitor when training camp and preseason play begins.
