Caron Butler Believed to Have Torn Patellar Tendon

The Dallas Mavericks believe swingman Caron Butler has suffered a torn patellar tendon. The extent of the tear isn't known yet. The injury could keep Butler out from two months to the rest of the season depending on the severity.

The Breakdown
The Mavericks have been riddled with injuries of late. Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion have missed recent games with ailments of their own. Although Marion is injured now, he should take Butler's place in the starting five once healthy. With 30+ minutes a game, Marion could once again become a great source of all-around production with potential to crack the top 75 or so of our player ratings. Shawn is available in two-thirds of leagues, so jump on him quickly.

Deeper leagues will want to consider J.J. Barea and DeShawn Stevenson. Both players should see increased playing time in Butler's absence. Rookie Dominique Jones could also make his way into the rotation.
