What's Gotten Into Spencer Hawes?

Although he's been starting all season, Philadelphia 76ers center Spencer Hawes played sparingly in the early going. Recently, head coach Doug Collins has shown more faith in the big man and given him 27.8 minutes per game in Philly's last five contests. Hawes has responded with averages of 12.2 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks on 50% shooting during that stretch.

The Breakdown
Hawes has come on strong of late, topping it off with last night's 16-point, 12-rebound, 5-block double-double. Fantasy owners in standard leagues in need of center help should certainly give Hawes a look. We're not sure how long he'll keep up this production, but it's very likely Spencer continues to play big minutes because the 76ers have been playing well of late, winning seven of their last nine games.

We like Hawes as a decent pick up because he's proven in Sacramento that this production is not a fluke. Hawes has shown that he's capable of putting up about 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a block if given ample playing time. He was able to put up good numbers for the Kings when given the opportunity. He's also one of those centers that can stretch the floor and give you a three-pointer now and then. Some people have already started picking him up this week, but he remains available in nearly every league.
