Indiana Pacers Team Update

The following information is courtesy of the Indianapolis Star.
  • Tyler Hansbrough has not been cleared to go 100 percent in workouts and training. Hansbrough is said to be in good shape and ready to go once doctors give him the OK. He should be ready for training camp at the end of the month, where the Pacers will look for Tyler to fill the starting power forward spot.
  • Pacers president Larry Bird said that A.J. Price is not expected to be fully healed from a knee injury he suffered in a charity basketball game over the summer. The Pacers are in no rush to bring him back as they now have Darren Collison to man the point, but Price is expected to vie for playing time as Collison's back up. The Pacers are unlikely to use T.J. Ford much this season and Lance Stephenson appears to be in the doghouse.
  • Speaking of Stephenson, he is working out with Indiana's coaching staff at various facilities in Indianapolis while he's banned from Conseco Field House. It's a good sign that Stephenson is getting some work in, but we're still worried that the Pacers will shy away from giving him a regular role due to his legal troubles.
  • Center Roy Hibbert has lost considerable weight this offseason. We hope this gives him more stamina so he can play for longer stretches. His hard work in the summer to trim his weight could be wasted, though, if he doesn't learn to foul less. Foul trouble was the main culprit for limiting his minutes last season.
