Detroit Pistons forward Austin Daye completed a great preseason, finishing with averages of 15 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks. He is expected to be Detroit's opening night starter at power forward.
The Breakdown
Daye shot himself up the depth chart this preseason through stellar play, an injury to Jonas Jerebko, and mediocre performances from Charlie Villanueva. Daye enters the season as a great deep sleeper for players who drafted him. Be aware that Austin will still face stiff competition for playing time with all the front court players on the Pistons' roster. If his play declines, Villanueva or Greg Monroe could take over the starting power forward spot and move Daye back to a role with the second unit.
