The Nuggets have added free agent PF Al Harrington. The deal is reportedly for 5 years at $34 million.
The Breakdown
Harrington is a really nice pick up for the Nuggets. With Kenyon Martin possibly missing the start of the season while he recovers from knee surgery, plus the chance he'll get reinjured whenever he does return, Harrington has a good chance of starting in Denver. The Nuggets are one of the higher scoring teams in the league, so Harrington could have a chance to put up some big games as he did in New York. Unlike New York, though, Al will be playing alongside other big time scoring threats like Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, and to a lesser extent Chauncey Billups, which will limit his touches.
Harrington is a big time scorer with 3 point range, but he won't help your FG%. He'll also chip in about 5 boards a game. If Kenyon Martin is not ready to go around draft time, Harrington is a good player to grab with a late pick. He has serious potential to get big minutes in Denver with Martin and Nene's injury histories.
